Situation Update

Hello, All!

Huge apologies for the lack of posts or episodes. As I mentioned in the July show, my living situation has altered quite a bit and I am now crammed more firmly into the closet than I was last year.

When my husband and I finished college in June, we had to move. Not only were we living in college housing, but we also felt that a different area might present us with more employment opportunities. Being poor, recently graduated, college students, we looked at our bank accounts and realized that we had enough money to either move or rent an apartment. We chose to move, and are now living in a room in my grandparents' attic while we find jobs and accumulate enough cash for a place of our own.

My grandparents are kind, lovely people and I don't know what we'd be doing at this point if it weren't for their generosity. They are also conservative Seventh-day Adventists. Since I'm living in their house, my ability to record, edit, and upload shows is significantly hampered. There are very few hours during the week in which I could record and I don't have my own line for internet. Thus, the slow-down with the show.

With all of that said, I want to assure you all that TBC is not, I repeat, not going to disappear. This is not a farewell post. However, it may be several more weeks yet before I manage to pull the next episode together. The exciting news is that my next episode promises to be truly thought-provoking.

I was browsing the New Age/Spirituality section of a Border's Books one day when something caught my eye. It was a book by Gus diZerega, a Gardenarian Priest, called Pagans and Chrisitans: The Personal Spiritual Experience. As you probably know by now, interfaith discussion is something that I believe to be immensely important. I also find it to be spiritually and intellectually rewarding. You can imagine how excited I was.

I read the book and shared it with a Christian friend (here at TBC, he likes to go by Nighteyes) which started a conversation of excellent depth and insight. As it occurs to us, Christianity and Wicca/NeoPagan traditions in general, do have a lot of similarities and differences. The problem is that so few people in either group focus on the really important ones.

Using diZerega's book as an inspiration, Nighteyes and I will be recording a show in which we hope to shed light on a few of those points and maybe answer some listener questions as well. Our goal is to create an honest, respectful dialogue and find some common ground.

As always, I would love for all of you listeners out there to take part. So, if you have a question for Nighteyes about Christian beliefs or particularly about Christian beliefs as they relate to NeoPagan issues, please leave a comment on this post or e-mail me at thebroomcloset@hotmail.com. As always, questions are welcome from any religious perspective.

Thank you for all of your support! I love seeing the comments here on the blog and reading the e-mails that I get from you. Without all of you, this show wouldn't be here.

Bright Blessings!
